should I be worried?

I was house hunting today and happened to google the address of a house for sale. I was surprised to see the address come up on the "Guide to Soda Cans" website. The website includes a roster of soda can collectors, most of whom contributed info for the site in the 1980's and early 1990's. Note that they "may have changed addresses and phone numbers."

You can bet if I move in there I will NOT be holding soda can collector meetings at my house!

p.s. I'm labeling this as "creepy" but bizarre would work just as well if you ask me. :)

forgive me!

Dear God,

Please forgive me for judging that mom of three kids who drank caffeine constantly while breastfeeding. I have now joined her.

Amen.

Note to self

Never, ever, ever shop online in the middle of the night. This is how you rack up a much too large credit card bill. The sad part is it's been over 24 hours and I don't have buyer's remorse yet! The good part is my son will have school clothes to wear in the fall. The sad part is that was not the largest chunk of the purchase. oops.

ewww.

I'm itchy all over. Itchy, itchy, itchy!! Maybe I am allergic to motherhood. :-P

three kids

I have three kids now and they are all awake at the same time. Oh Lord, help me!

Finally

Baby is here, he is a week old. Born last Friday morning. I'm actually getting more sleep than I thought I would. Thank goodness!

Today...

Happy Cinco De Mayo, people!

I think today is a day for a trip to the Teacake Bakeshop. I don't know why, but taking my sickly, hacking son and daughter out for a little field trip sounds like such a great idea in this rain!! Woot woot! (I think this may also be known as pregnancy insanity.)

Are you there God? It's me, Margaret

Anyone remember that book? I feel like that this morning. So far it's not even 7 AM and I have my own version brewing...

Are you there God? It's me, Margaret.

I didn't sleep last night. Well actually I slept until 2:30 and then after that, I slept for maybe another hour or two. I woke up at 6:30 to the sound of my four year old screaming "Mommy, I'm ready to take a shower" which automatically I knew meant he had over-peed in his pull-up last night so not only do I get to help him bathe but I also get the privilege of washing and changing his sheets today. And since he was screaming, he woke up the 2 year old. God, did you remember I'm 38 weeks pregnant and am walking around with a basketball under my shirt? God, did you remember that I have to climb up on the loft bed to change the sheets with my basketball? Are you there God? My two year old is running around trying to find her new favorite pants and no matter how many times I tell her exactly where they are, I have to find them for her.

Are you there God? Do you know my husband and I can't agree on a name for the new baby? I picked out my favorites for a boy and a girl and he won't agree. He won't come up with any of his own either (except for HIS name so he can have a "junior" -- NO WAY!) and I'm letting it really annoy me. Can you fix him so he'll just agree with me, God?

Are you there God? The kids are eating their breakfast and using their spoons and fists on the table like it's a drum. I wonder when the downstairs neighbors will start to complain. It's only 13 hours until bed time and I've heard enough whining to last me until tomorrow. Are you there God? I don't think I'm going to make it.

Amen.

I'm pregnant.

I'm very very pregnant. I'm not overdue yet, but it sure feels like it. My belly feels like it is about to bust open! yuck! Bring on the spicy food, people.

ouch

I'm getting a zit on my chin. One of those big under-the-skin painful ones. I've had it up to my eyeballs with being uncomfortable these days (probably true that I'm just a little uncomfy and then grouchy from the crappy-sleeping-during-pregnancy makes it worse) so I'm about to go after that nasty thing with a big needle and spoon and just dig it all out. If I can control one uncomfortable thing right now, it's that lame zit and I'm going to do something about it.

Or maybe not. I hear digging can cause scars. Back to your regularly scheduled program.

life is very, very short

I just found out my cousin died today. He was around the same age as my brother, maybe 26 years old or so. His roommate just found him at their place, not alive. So.... weird. That's not a very good word but nothing else comes to mind. I think I'm a little too pregnant to travel down there which is a very weird feeling. This family has had a huge amount of hardship in their lives; this is the second of their three children to die before his time. My uncle has already had a difficult time dealing with other deaths in his family (his brother and father) and this is not really going to help of course. So sad.

funny four year old sayings

4 y/o: [hands mommy a tissue] Mommy, where can this go?
mommy: What is it?
4 y/o: A tissue
[well duh]
mommy: Why do you want to put it somewhere? (trying to figure out if it is used or not) What's on it?
4 y/o: oh, just a little dot of boogers.

Moving on.....As you may remember, I'm pregnant. I'm in fact about 33 weeks pregnant. So we've been talking a lot about the baby in my tummy and what to name it. We're thinking up boy and girl names since we don't know what it is. My favorite so far is "Mr. Tickle." ha. Well, in light of the "baby in the tummy" conversations I was recently told this by my four year old:

4 y/o: Mommy, I'm just not exactly sure what tummy YOU came from!
mommy: I came from Grandma's tummy!
4 y/o: And who was in Halmonie's tummy (my mother-in-law)?
mommy: Daddy was in there!
4 y/o: oh! And auntie too?
mommy: yes, sweetie, auntie too. But not at the same time!

oh, how I will miss these young revelations.

wow

It's been almost two months since I posted?

The good news is that I'm finally in my third and final trimester of this pregnancy.

The bad news is that once I got here, I almost immediately started having trouble sleeping (too big to get comfy), having indigestion, and generally being miserable.

Good thing my man is taking me to hawaii for a few days... I will certainly relish the time away and opportunity to be miserable in a beautiful hotel room. ha ha. Now where is that maternity bathing suit?? (oh scary!)

good news and bad news

The good news is I slept through the night last night! Woohoo, I sound like a mom of a newborn infant and not just a pregnant lady. :) The even better news is that my daughter woke up at 5:15 AM, came in bed with me, and went back to sleep until 7:30. I'm sure that in heaven we'll all SLEEP IN every day so you know how I feel about that excitement. :)

The bad news is just for Debbie ~ that chocolate doughnut was not all that great yesterday. :( And now I'm "over" my craving so no more searching. Hopefully you'll find some chocolate goodness in all your baking over the next few days!

More adventures

Last night I was at The White House (complete with Christmas decorations and an organic juice dispenser) as well as Seaworld (mostly with the dolphins). If you have no idea what I'm talking about, read my last post.

I was also awake from 2-5:30 AM, and my daughter woke up at 6:30 AM. What a waste of good, precious sleeping time!

Finally, I'm off in search of that amazing chocolate doughnut today. Debbie, if it pans out I'm happy to ship you one. lol.

Dreams

hello blog followers. I think there are two of you. Maybe three. Just had to comment on how WEIRD my dreams have been lately. I'm not sleeping well so maybe that's why I remember them all. Last night I was injected into a popular sitcom in my dream. Nothing too exciting happened but there I was with all the TV characters. Weird.

The night before I woke up and told my husband "I had the BEST chocolate doughnut EVER!" He wanted to know where his was. Whoops, I guess I just dreamed it.

The list goes on and on but those are the two recent "highlights."

Finally, back to you, my two followers. I think at least 50% of you know I'm pregnant, for the other 50%, SURPRISE, I'm pregnant. :) I think that's why my dreams have been so wacky lately.

Merry Christmas!

p.s. ~ I'm labeling this post "parenthood" because I think parenthood begins in pregnancy for us mommas... maybe not you dads, but moms for sure!

Sweet potatoes help ease stress. No wonder they're served at major family holidays!

new yum for the list

Going to add to my list of yum-o favorites... No Pudge! Fudge Brownie Mix

You're supposed to mix it with vanilla yogurt... but I just mixed it with Raspberry. Wow! Yummmmmmmmmalicious. I am especially a fan of the individual serving prep. Hot brownies whenever you want, only when you want.

Watch that mouth, Momma!

Tonight on the way home from an evening out with pretty disobedient kids (just the icing on the cake of disobedient-kid-day), the following conversation took place.

Mom: I'm tired of you kids not obeying right away. It makes me sad.
4 y/o: Mommy, if you are tired of me not obeying you should go take a nap.
Mom: I would love to take a nap, but I don't think it will help you do a better job at obeying. Do you think it would help?
4 y/o: No...

whoops. Lord, please help me love my family no matter how I feel or how they act. Thank you for being a perfect example of unconditional love, and help me have even a teeny tiny portion of that unconditional love for my husband and my kids.
